Responsibilities: As a playworker at Busy Bees you will be responsible for ;- Planning and organising a range of fun, stimulating and developmental activities The supervision, safety and welfare of children Communication and liaison with staff and customers Active participation in training and development The implementation of the clubs policies with regard to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and Diversity Be able to work within a team environment to organise, facilitate and lead a range of play based activities which include sports, arts and crafts, games, drama, dance, and music. Be responsible for contributing to the planning and organisation of play activities in accordance with National Standards relating to session planning and delivery. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and fit for children and staff. You will help to prepare activity areas for children. Responsible for delivering play activities within Busy Bees operational procedures and policies with particular reference to children’s well being and health and safety. Whilst on duty you will assumes responsibility for the safety and welfare of children under your supervision. Under the general direction of the Manager or Supervisor, you will ensure that the activity areas are maintained to a safe level and in accordance with Busy Bees procedures and policies. You will liaise with colleagues, Supervisors, the Manager and other internal and external agencies on day to day operational matters and refer any issues to the Manager or Supervisor for advice and assistance. Liaise with parents and carers on day to day information related to activities and customers generally on matters related to service delivery. Work closely with colleagues on matters related to the day to day delivery of the service Participate in training and development programmes both external and internal. You will share information gained at external events with colleagues and contribute to the development of the whole staff team. Contribute to the setting up of activities at the beginning of sessions Contribute to the provision of nutritional meals for children and contributes to menu planning. Follow procedures and policies on receiving visitors in line with Ofsted National Standards PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: Relevant Level 2 childcare qualification Ability to communicate with children Good general communication skills Ability to act on own initiative and be proactive Commitment to Equality of Opportunity and Diversity Ability to prioritise and make decisions Ability to respond to change positively Commitment to personal and organisational development Commitment to the development of play opportunities for children of all abilities Ability to work within safeguarding policies and procedures set out by Essex County Council. Desirable: First Aid at Work qualification Food Hygiene qualification/training Previous experience in a Playwork setting
