Responsibilities:
To organise and implement the general running of the nursery provision.
To ensure adequate staffing throughout the nursery, using regular bank staff to cover absences.
To convey the company's clear purpose and vision using strategies that are measurable and improve performance.
To ensure outstanding standards of care and education are provided at all times.
To provide induction training for new staff and volunteers to help them understand how the provision operates and their role within it. This must include health and safety issues, such as manual handling, safe systems of work and emergency evacuation procedures.
To ensure professionalism and confidentiality.
To lead by example and set the standards of outstanding practice.
To organise and implement set administrative procedures (detailed in job description.)
To have a sound understanding of the company's policies and procedures and to ensure all parents, staff and visitors are aware of them and adhere to them.
To ensure that the operational plan and the SEF form are regularly reveiwed and any changes are cascaded to all other staff.
In liaison with the company directors to manage the daily routine of the nursery, supervising staff and students as necessary to ensure that everyone contributes to the children's education and development, and that health, safety and fire procedures are adhered to for the protection of all.
To promote positive attitudes to diversity and difference.
To ensure regular cycles of planning and review are engaged, informed by accurate record keeping through observation. Including information of individual child's next steps identified using the EYFS.
To make sure that high professional standards are maintained at all times with regard to nursery presentation, staff and student dress, attitude and speech.
Encourage and support staff in training to improve their knowledge and qualifications.
To make sure that any changes to legislation or thinking is cascaded.
To chair regular staff meetings to discuss relevant and current issues.
To host regular parent events both formal and informal to encourage a strong sense of involvement and celebrate the children's achievements in a variety of ways.
To organise and participate in out of hours fund raising and social events throughout the year.
Qualifications & Skills:
NVQ Level 3 in an early years subject or equivalent.
Strong leadership and management skills.
5+ weeks paid holiday per annum.
