Responsibilities: To ensure an outstanding standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care is provided for children at the nursery. To supervise and support other staff within the nursery. To lead by example and set the standard of quality practices. To support the overall day to day running of the nursery and administration. To keep operational plans up to date and relevant. To be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures. To be responsible for staff, students and voluntary workers. To supervise and support all staff in their roles and their day to day duties. To manage the office staff. To ensure staff:child ratios are maintained at all times. To co-ordinate recruitment and induction. To appraise and train staff. To undertake any necessary disciplinary and grievancy cases. To work in partnership with parents, carers and other family members. To work under the guidance and legislation of professional bodies, such as OFSTED and PSLA. To oversee the upkeep of the building, the maintenance of equipment and fixtures and fittings. To be responsible for all administration duties associated with the management of the nursery setting. This is to include: maintaining records on the children, overseeing planning and curriculum guidance, reporting staff working hours, conducting parent's visits, invoicing, cash handling, banking, maintaining clear accounting records, purchase ledger system and availability monitoring. To chair staff meetings as appropriate. To ensure other staff are meeting their obligations, such as cleaning rota, toy cleaning and ordering supplies. To ensure the nursery remains operating at 95%+ occupancy everyday. To maintain clear communication with parents, from when they visit, on the waiting list, admission into the nursery and until their child leaves the nursery to join a school. To ensure all staff are working to their full potential. To undertake any other duties as necessary. Qualifications & Skills: NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. 2 years supervisory experience - OFSTED requirement.
Up to 32 days paid holiday per annum.
